Re: BF1942 mod: Realism
Hey, Pilot. It's me, JJ. I found something online that you might be interested in while building your mod: http://planetbattlefield.gamespy.com/Vi ... ist&game=4 . It contains a bunch of skins and stuff for objects in Battlefield 1942. I know that you probably won't be allowed to use someone else's skin in your mod, but they have a lot of good ideas with things like realistic camoflauge, flags, and vehicle patterns. Good luck with the realism mod!

Re: BF1942 mod: Realism
Thanks, I bookmarked it. If I decide I want any of those skins I'll be sure to ask the creator or see if it comes with an agreement that lets me use it.

Re: BF1942 mod: Realism
No alpha or beta stuff, just release numbers. That way it's much easier for me to handle versioning and I don't need to deal with deciding when to take it out of beta. All of my releases, even to one person, get a release number and will be publicly available right here in this thread. That easily prevents any issues involving leaks and whatnot which could cause problems. With that said, I'm keeping it to myself until I feel it's ready for release.
I'm hoping to have the first release out by Christmas or New Years, but I'm making no promises because there is still an overwhelming number of things I need to do to get my first batch of to-do's out of the way.
I'm making sure the first release is a big change from the classic BF1942, and one way I hope to do that (as realism allows) is to make every vehicle and weapon noticeably different in one way or another.

I would download the 7-Zip file one. If I extracted the files, where should I put them?

Dead Bodies and Slow Game
Hello,
There are not enough stars in the sky to rate this mod. Thank you very much. Since you are unable to say WWII Reality is better than other BF1942 mods, I will say it for you.
When I play each map, things run smoothly at first, but then gradually slow down to the point at which it is pretty much unplayable. Could I be having this problem because of how long the corpses remain in the game? Can a user adjust that duration to see if it helps? All other BF1942 mods run without lag or whatever it's called on my PC.
Here are the specs:
Dell Dimension 4600 desktop
Windows XP Home Edition SP3
P4 at 2.6GHz with HTT & 800MHz FSB
3GB Dual Ch DDR SDRAM at 400MHz
128MB DDR ATI Radeon 9800 Pro
SB Live 5.1
DX 9.0c
Thanks again for the mod, man. This is really super cool, way better than having a colored plus sign in the middle of the picture, for sure. The other features are nice, too. It's very exciting and scary to play.
By the way, thank you for not making the picture all blurry except in the very middle when you aim, like in BF2 and other games. That effect strains my eyes and hurts my head a little. It seems like it can't be good for the eyes, since the player's brain knows everything he is looking at on the screen is actually the same distance away from him or her.

Re: BF1942 mod: WWII Reality
I responded to your email about the lag problem.
As for the lack of blur, thank you. I'd say it was actually easier for me to use the unblurred 3D model than a blurred overlay image as some games or BF1942 mods do it. I just tweaked some values, while the other option would've been to get permission from someone to use their image overlays or find a way to create them myself, and I never really liked the overlays either which is why I was so intent on using the 3D model.

Re: BF1942 mod: WWII Reality
Hey pilot, i was wondering if you were going to or able to add a sprint with a limited duration at some point to your mod.

Re: BF1942 mod: WWII Reality
Hi Ategrent. Thanks for the suggestion! By looking at the to-do list I had no plans to add it.
Unfortunately I have no intention to return to working on WWII Reality any time in the near future. I would like to, but BF1942 modding was just a hobby and my focus has switched to projects that give me real programming skill and bring in some revenue. Maybe I'll come back to it eventually when time & money isn't so tight, but for the time-being it is on hold indefinitely.

Re: BF1942 mod: WWII Reality
Hello, Pilot_51.
I was wondering if you finished the patch that fixes the iron sights lag/alignment problem?
The second release is almost unplayable otherwise.
Thanks for your time.

Sorry, no. I never got the help I needed from anyone affected and have since moved on to other things.
Re: BF1942 mod: WWII Reality
Hey pilot i downloaded your mod and i was so excited to try it and i keep having an issue when loading the maps, they get half way and the whole game closes out. i don't have this issue with the regular game i was wondering if it was something to do with windows 7 or maybe i did something wrong on install? any ideas?

Re: BF1942 mod: WWII Reality
Sounds like possibly a bad install. Did you read the Installation section of readme.txt?
Also be sure you have the latest version of BF1942 installed. While it may or may not work on older versions, I have not tested WWII Reality on previous versions and do not support it. The latest version is 1.61b. You may need to install 1.6.19 first since 1.61b is only available as an incremental patch. You can download the patches from http://largedownloads.ea.com/pub/patches/
